ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Norman Courtney drew inspiration from classical Greek mythology to create this work that evokes change, maturity, and growth at Federal Way's Todd Beamer High School.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Late artist Norman Courtney created sculptural installations for public spaces. Based in Seattle, He founded the glass program at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle in 1978, and taught at Pilchuck Glass school in Stanwood, Northwest Washington, from 1974 until 1992. Discussing his public sculptures, he noted, "It is important to reach out and involve an audience and to engage them in ways that they might not expect."
