ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Marita Dingus is known for her artwork made of recycled material. She created this work entirely from the pull tabs of discarded soda cans.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with The Evergreen State College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based artist Marita Dingus creates multimedia sculptures using recycled and "discarded" materials. Informed by her experiences as an African-American woman, Dingus' artworks explore identity and social justice. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and both an MA and MFA from San Jose State University.
