A World Beyond, 2000

Brad Rude
(American, born 1964)

Location: Washington State University,

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Brad Rude's A World Beyond was initially inspired by the idea of role reversals. The artist placed the mule on top of its wagon and adorned it with images that suggest memories, desires, fears, and dreams, all perhaps sparked by the decision to climb upon the wagon.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State University.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Eastern Washington artist Brad Rude creates narrative sculptures that feature various animals in playful, symbolically rich compositions. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Central Washington University. He lives and works in Walla Walla, Washington.
