Yancy Wright
(American, born 1975)

Location: Bremerton National Guard Readiness Center

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This layered, illuminated photograph by Yancy Wright connects past and present. Created for the Bremerton National Guard Readiness Center, the artwork includes images of the Guard overlapping with the Kitsap Peninsula as seen from Seattle. On the artist-made frame are etched historic images of Sinclair Park, an African American neighborhood—formerly on the Readiness Center's site—that was established in Bremerton in the 1940s to support work at the local shipyards.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Military Department.
