ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Jamie Walker's "Wall Bowl #1" asks a viewer to reshape his or her idea of a bowl, rather than reshape the object itself.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lake Washington Technical College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based artist and Professor Jamie Walker is Director and Chair of the School of Art + Art History + Design department at the University of Washington. He has taught at the University of Washington since 1989, and has served as Director since 2014. He creates ceramic sculptures with an emphasis on materiality, perception, and chance. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from the University of Washington in 1981. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1983.
