ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In this mosaic, artist Maggie Smith depicts six important crops local to Sunnyside, Washington including apples, grapes, asparagus, cherries, corn and hops.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Sunnyside School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maggie Smith is a ceramic artist based on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was born in New Hampshire and she received a Machelor of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware in 1972. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1977. She has served as an artist in residence for the Washington State Arts Commission and for Seattle Public Schools.
