- ABOUT THE ARTWORK
These eight vase-shaped sculptures hold silhouette cutouts of natural and cultural resources within. Silhouettes include: Lomatium root and plant, a Great Horned Owl, a map of 1855 Yakama Federation Territory boundary and a hand, dancers, faces, a sunburst, clouds, a storm and landscape components.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Washington University.
- ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seattle-based artist Benson Shaw creates sculptures and architectural installations for public places in a variety of media. He received a BA in physics from Colorado College and an MA in sculpture, with a minor in art history from the University of New Mexico.
