Mary Iverson's Container Series combines complex formal compositions of color, line, and shape with a personal investigation of commerce and goods, population growth, and economies.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Northwest Career and Technical Academy.
- ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mary Iverson lives and works in Seattle, Washington. Her paintings explore the balance between the natural world and industrial activities, inspiring conversations about the causes and consequences of climate change. Her main sources of inspiration are close to her home: the beautiful Port of Seattle, and three magnificent National Parks (Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades National Park). Mary teaches visual art at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Washington, where she is a tenured faculty member.
