ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Tom Otterness' series "Wild Life"—six bronze sculptural groups—invites passersby to join its figures at tables and benches along rural Connell, Washington's (population just over 5,000) main streets. "Train" depicts a small railroad scene moving across the center of the table in front of the Connell mural at City Hall.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections and City of Connell.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tom Otterness is a Brooklyn-based sculptor known for his stylized depiction of animal and imagined figures, composed into visually compelling narratives. His works are installed in public spaces around the world and are featured in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum, among many others.
