Paul Vexler
(American, born 1947)

Location: Green River College, Auburn

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Vexler created a drawing in space: a 100-foot long ribbon of wood twisted into a 30-foot span, floating above the entry area of Green River College's Cedar Hall.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Green River Community College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Based in Snohomish, Washington, artist Paul Vexler creates sculptures that investigate mathematical forms. He often uses wood as his primary material. He notes, "Wood, to me, is a plastic medium. Many artists use wood carving or construction; the evolution of my work is based on an exploration of the ways in which wood can be pushed, pulled, bent, twisted, compressed, stretched, and punctured."
