Artist Kiff Slemmons creates sculptural jewelry in a variety of materials. She studied French language and art at the University of Iowa. She later attended the Sorbonne in Paris and studied metalsmithing in Japan. In the year 2000 she began to collaborate with a handmade paper workshop in Oaxaca, Mexico. Together with artisans and craftspeople, she designs and creates paper jewelry and sculpture crafted from local plants and natural dyes. She was a longtime resident of Seattle, where her husband Rod Slemmons acted as photography curator for the Seattle Art Museum. They moved to Chicago, Illinois in 2002.
