ABOUT THE ARTWORK

With beginnings in small-scale fine metal working, artist Harold Balazs began working larger when he was invited to collaborate with architects in the mid 1960s. Balazs is now known for his sculptures and says of making artwork, "I make stuff because it's better than not making stuff."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Secretary of State.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Northwest artist Harold Balazs is best known for his abstract metal sculptures. He studied art at Washington State University. He lives and works in Spokane county, and many of his works are featured in Spokane's public spaces.
