Ann Gardner
(American, born 1947)

Location: Washington State Convention Center, Seattle

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Attached to a motor, Ann Gardner's glass mosaic sculpture turns slowly, creating meditative beauty in the active environment of the Washington State Convention Center. The artwork's title, 'Lebeg,' is taken from the Hungarian for "to hover" or "float" and honors the artist's friend and fabricator, David Gulassa, who died in a kayaking accident during the creation of this work.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Seattle-based artist Ann Gardner creates sculptures using glass and mosaic materials. Her works explore pattern and rhythm in organic forms. She studied ceramics and fine art at the University of Oregon and Portland State University.
