Feather Star, 1978

Ali Baudoin
(American, born 1949)

Location: Everett Community College

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Ali Baudoin was inspired by the form of a type of marine crinoid – a flowerlike sea animal known as a feather star. In 1987, this sculpture survived an arson on campus that destroyed Everett Community College's 40-year-old library and its collection of 48,000 books and periodicals. The artwork has since become a symbol of resiliency for the college.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Everett Community College.
