ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Celebrated Seattle artist Sherry Markovitz is best know for her elaborately detailed paper mache and beaded assemblages. Patterned Fawn depicts a trophy animal head ornately patterned with beads, symbolically investigating life and death, craft, and gender identity.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Shoreline Community College.

Celebrated Seattle artist Sherry Markovitz is best know for her elaborately detailed papier mâché and beaded sculpture, which often depict dolls or animal head trophies and investigate the symbolism of identity.
