Cris Bruch
(American, born 1957)

Location: University of Washington, Seattle

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Cris Bruch created this biomorphic sculpture of tubular stainless steel as the imagined annex for a university department of a future field of study.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with University of Washington.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Cris Bruch is a sculptor who uses non-traditional materials to indirectly consider consumer culture and social and economic disparity. His art also typically reflects on the process of artmaking and the unconscious, repeated actions that form our lives and define who we are. He is especially interested in time, turbulence, and curvature.
Cris Bruch was born and raised in Missouri State. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics/sculpture at the University of Kansas at Lawrence and an Master of Fine Arts and Master of Art at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He moved to Seattle in 1986, where he has lived since. A comprehensive survey of his work was presented by the Salt Lake Art Center, Utah in 2003.
