Soft Violet Burn, 1985

Barbara Noah
(American, born 1949)

Location: Ridgetop Middle School, Silverdale

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Barbara Noah's photograph Soft Violet Burn uses a dye transfer process to alter the colors of an original image. This piece is part of a series about fire, which the artist sees "as a symbol of strong emotion and warmth. It is also an element that transforms matter, and it becomes magical and more than real when its color is altered, in this case to violet."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Kitsap School District.
